The Audio-Technica ATV-SG1 utilizes a 14 mm large-diameter diaphragm to capture detailed sound with high sensitivity and low-noise performance. A 100 mm acoustic tube creates a highly directional pickup pattern that isolates the primary sound source while suppressing ambient background noise. This configuration ensures lifelike reproduction of the human voice and other audio sources.
The integrated shock mount isolates the microphone from vibrations and handling noise generated by camera movement. Audio-Technica’s patented noise-immunity technology provides resistance against RF interference and hum from smartphones and other electronic devices. A selectable low-cut filter reduces low-frequency interference from wind, traffic, and mechanical systems.
A rear-mounted stepless gain knob provides immediate control over audio levels during recording. The safety track option splits the signal to record a primary level on the left channel and a secondary -6 dB backup on the right channel to prevent clipping during unexpected volume spikes. A dedicated headphone jack with a volume adjustment knob allows for real-time audio monitoring.
The ATV-SG1 includes an external input jack and an accessory shoe for mounting wireless receivers or connecting plug-in-powered lavalier microphones. This setup enables simultaneous recording of the shotgun and secondary microphone sources. The 12-sided shoe mounting plate rotates in 30-degree increments, and a slide rail allows the user to adjust the microphone’s forward or backward position to clear the camera lens or accommodate other accessories.
The internal USB rechargeable battery provides up to 24 hours of continuous use. The microphone features an automatic power function that synchronizes with the camera’s power state to preserve battery life. Each unit is designed and manufactured in Japan and includes a wind muff for improved outdoor performance.
