The Audio-Technica AT5045 Premium Instrument Condenser Microphone is a premier studio condenser designed to deliver high-performance audio for acoustic instruments. This side-address microphone utilizes a stick-type body to provide the performance of a large-diaphragm condenser in a convenient, slim form factor. It captures pure, realistic sound quality for overheads, percussion, acoustic guitar, strings, and other acoustic sources.
The AT5045 features Audio-Technica’s largest single diaphragm, offering more surface area than most traditional large-diaphragm side-address microphones. Engineers honed the circuitry to the essentials, allowing the microphone to achieve an exceptionally wide dynamic range. Discrete components are carefully selected for optimized performance, and the transformer-coupled output provides a smooth sonic character. This design ensures high-SPL capability and exceptionally low noise levels during recording.
Every AT5045 undergoes hand assembly and individual inspection to maintain 100% quality control. The microphone features an elegant housing of aluminum and brass with a high-quality gray finish for durability and low reflectivity. To minimize negative effects on the audio signal, the circuitry and capsule assembly are mounted as a single block within a floating internal shock mount. This advanced internal mounting effectively decouples the capsule from the microphone body for excellent vibration isolation.
The AT5045 includes several specialized accessories to enhance its utility in the studio. The innovative AT8481 isolation clamp provides secure mounting and versatile positioning while effectively dampening unwanted mechanical noise. For additional protection and performance, the microphone comes with an AT8165 windscreen and a custom hard-shell carrying case. The case features die-cut foam compartments designed to protect either a single microphone or a stereo pair.
While available as a single unit, the AT5045 is also offered as a stereo pair (AT5045P) to suit various recording environments. Its cardioid polar pattern and side-address design make it a versatile tool for professional studio applications where high fidelity and mechanical isolation are required.
